Responsibilities

• Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
• Count money in cash drawers at start of shifts and ensure adequate change.
• Greet customers entering store.
• Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
• Establish or identify prices and tabulate bills using calculators and scanners.
• Issue trading stamps and redeem food stamps and coupons.
• Resolve customer complaints.
• Answer questions and provide information on procedures or policies.
• Cash checks for customers.
• Weigh items sold by weight to determine prices.
• Calculate total payments and reconcile with sales.
• Record all sales at time of purchase.
• Sell tickets and other items to customers.
• Bag or wrap merchandise and prepare packages for shipment.
• Process returns and exchanges.
• Stock shelves and mark prices as needed.
• Monitor checkout stations for cash availability and staffing levels.
• Offer carry-out service after transactions.
• Follow company policy and record hours worked on time clock.
• Record all sales and revenue accurately for reporting.
• Complete shift-checkout reports as required.
