Number Nerd works with small to medium-sized businesses with annual revenue ranging from $250K to upwards of $5M+.

Position Summary:

Number Nerd is looking for a fully remote, part-time bookkeeper to join our team. This role requires client-facing, bookkeeping experience in the legal, architects, interior designers, and professional service verticals. You will help manage our clients' books and grow their business to fully maximize their potential. You will be responsible for supporting our client's bookkeeping needs that include, but are not limited to, recording transactions, maintaining ledgers, account reconciliation, payroll reports, expense tracking, month-end close, and auditing. This role requires deep knowledge and experience using QuickBooks Online.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping: Record all income and expenses, maintain the general ledger, including coding bank feeds and reconciliations, and prepare month-end and year-end financial reports.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the full cycle of accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Legal Billing: Handle law firm billing for both non-insurance and insurance clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prebill Preparation: Prepare prebills, ensuring all time entries are accurate and non-duplicative and that all expenses are included.
  • Insurance Billing Management: Manage insurance portals, process appeals, and collaborate with adjusters to ensure timely payments.
  • Payroll Processing: Experience with Gusto or similar payroll processing software, including employee onboarding, benefits setup, and corrections as needed.
  • Software Utilization: Utilize QuickBooks Online and Clio for accounting and practice management tasks.
  • Billing Platforms: Manage billing through platforms such as TyMetrix 360°, Legal-X, Legal Tracker, Passport, and CounselGO.
  • Client Relations: Maintain professional relationships with various insurance companies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients' teams to ensure seamless financial operations and address any bookkeeping-related inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Education: Associate degree in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Proven experience with QuickBooks Online and Clio; familiarity with Bill.com is a plus.
  • Payroll Processing: Experience with Gusto or similar payroll processing software.
  • Legal Billing Platforms: Experience with TyMetrix 360°, Legal-X, Legal Tracker, Passport, and CounselGO.
  • Insurance Billing Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of legal insurance billing processes.
  • Independent Work Ethic: Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve financial discrepancies related to law firm billing.
  • Team Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work effectively with clients' teams, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.

MUST HAVE's to be Considered:

  • 5+ years of Bookkeeping or Accounting experience
  • QuickBooks Online – 5+ years of extensive, advanced experience using QuickBooks Online is required
  • Google Suite – 5+ years of professional management in Google Suite
  • Microsoft Excel – 5+ years
  • Other tech stack: Keeper.app, LastPass, Asana, Dropbox, Dext, Slack
  • Experience supporting multiple clients and multiple projects at the same time
  • Client Facing accounting experience
  • BS/BA in Accounting or equivalent experience
