Job summary

Evernorth Health Services, a division of The Cigna Group, seeks a Staff Pharmacist for onsite duties in Orlando, FL. This 2nd shift role (Mon-Fri, 10:30 am–7 pm) includes supervision of technicians, prescription interpretation, and ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

You will back up peers as needed, train junior pharmacists, and coordinate with physicians to optimize therapy and drug choices. Applicants must hold ACPE-accredited degree and current licensure.

Responsibilities

Job description

This position is 2nd shift Monday-Friday 10:30 am-7 pm with a one week on call every 9-weeks.

This position is worksite dependent and can only be performed onsite at our Orlando, FL location

As a Staff Pharmacist you will be responsible for compounding and dispensing medications within corporate and regulatory guidelines. In addition, maintain daily production, quality and service levels, vary work priorities and activities to accommodate business needs. The Staff Pharmacist may also train less experienced pharmacists.

What you will do:

• Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians.
• Interpret physicians' or prescribers' prescriptions.
• Contact doctors and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions such as drug strength, prescription sig., and drug name in order to expedite processing of orders.
• Verify and confirm validity of controlled substances.
• Verify prescription information entered in the system by data entry or order entry.
• Contact physicians for new and/or transfer authorization.
• Work with physicians to convert prescriptions to generic or preferred drugs whenever possible.
• Consult with patients regarding the use of medications and potential drug interactions.
• Back up other pharmacists as needed, perform additional duties as assigned by management, or train less experienced pharmacists.

What you will need to do the job:

• Graduate of ACPE Accreditation School of Pharmacy with a B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D, degree is required
• Current resident pharmacist license in good standing is required
• Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to adapt in a changing environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work a flexible schedule for peak volume times
