Job summary

C. S. McCrossan is a family-owned heavy civil contractor serving Twin Cities projects, seeking a fuel truck driver capable of hauling materials and hazardous goods. The role includes night/weekend work as project needs dictate, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

You will operate a fuel truck (>3 tons), perform routine maintenance, plan economical routes, and coordinate with dispatch. CDL with Tanker/HazMat endorsements and DOT health card are required in this position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years relevant experience or equivalent education/experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
  • Valid CDL with proper endorsements. DOT physical & health card.
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT and Federal Regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate electronic fuel system with training.
  • Tanker and HazMat endorsements on license.

Responsibilities

  • Drives a fuel truck with capacity of more than 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
  • Hauls hazardous materials.
  • Report all damaged and malfunctioning equipment to Supervisor.
  • Plans route to insure the most economical use of time and equipment.
  • Obtain fuel from CSM tank farm and haul to job sites.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment.
  • Check equipment fluids as directed and as needed.
  • Communicate with Lowboy or Dispatcher on moving equipment.
  • Ability to refuel CSM equipment and vehicles.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Grease trucks daily.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • There is constant exposure to various weather conditions typical in the states where the work is performed, including noise, dust, and other materials.
  • The work environment is in areas where heavy equipment, power tools and traffic are present.
  • There is exposure to heights up to 50 feet and depths of up to 80 feet in this construction work environment.
  • Demonstrate or be corrected to 20/20 vision.

Position Description

Job Overview

Drives a fuel truck with capacity of more than 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations. The position will be expected to work some nights and weekends subject to project needs.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Performs a variety of duties such as hauling hazardous materials.

  • The employee must be able to lift (including above shoulder or head), move, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.

  • Frequently reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear, and taste or smell.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Frequent exposure to high noise levels.
