Qualifications

  • Experience with petroleum product supply and distribution, and an understanding of pricing factors.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Establish responsive customer relationships within territory including a mix of small, medium, and potentially large key customers.
  • Communicate critical business issues, resolve day-to-day problems, and update customers on market conditions and Refuel’s products, services, and policies.
  • Travel within territory to conduct face-to-face meetings 4-5 days per week, 70%-80%.
  • Work closely with direct supervisor to optimize the portfolio of business by actively managing accounts, focusing on price/volume relationships and strategic direction.
  • Develop, negotiate, implement, and manage long-term contracts and non-fuel offerings to optimize value contribution.
  • Provide market intelligence to benefit internal partners including pricing decisions, outages, supply conditions, and other business items.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry issues, regulation, and market conditions relevant to Refuel.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and safety practices; adhere to company policies.

Job Title: Fuel Territory Manager

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

Role Type: Full Time

Work Location: Field Based– South Carolina

Working Hours: Regular hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish responsive customer relationships within territory including a mix of small, medium, and potentially large key customers. The accounts in this territory include a mix of both branded and unbranded customers.
  • Communicate critical business issues, resolve day-to-day problems, and update customers on industry issues, market conditions and Refuel’s products, services, and policies, to enhance Refuel’s position as a preferred supplier.
  • Travel within territory to conduct face-to-face meetings 4-5 days per week, 70%-80%.
  • Work closely with direct supervisor to optimize the portfolio of business by actively managing accounts, focusing on the optimal price/volume relationship for all products while executing strategic direction of the territory.
  • Work closely with direct supervisor to develop, negotiate, implement, and manage long term contracts and non-fuel offerings to optimize value contribution.
  • Provide market intelligence to benefit internal business partners including information that impacts daily pricing decisions, competitor outages, terminal problems, supply conditions, and any other business-related items.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of industry issues, government regulation, economic conditions, business outlooks, commercial and consumer needs, and Refuel’s competitive strengths and weaknesses by market.
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical conduct, professional standards, and practices within the industry.
  • Maintain the highest level of work practices in meeting Health, Environment & Safety goals, and requirements.
  • The above responsibilities notwithstanding, the final scope of the role will be determined by the Vice President of Fuel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

An ideal candidate will have experience with or understanding of:

  • Knowledge and experience of petroleum product supply and distribution, refining process, marketing including an understanding of the factors influencing supply, demand, and pricing of petroleum products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate and negotiate with others at all levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to evaluate all aspects of a purchase, exchange or processing agreement and negotiate the best deal possible.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Education and Experience: An ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional sales or marketing experience within the petroleum industry
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Working environment and physical requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to remain stationary.
Travel:
  • Must be able to travel up to 80%.
