Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Fueler Service Technician in Harvey, Illinois for a stable career with weekly pay. The role offers a second shift from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, with weekends off and paid training.

You will fuel vehicles, perform inspections, and maintain inventory while working with state-of-the-art equipment and a safety-first culture. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, strong English communication, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Up to one year of experience preferred / no experience required.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication.
• Must understand customer verbal communication and provide service.
• Basic computer skills and data-entry capability; read codes on the computer.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Fuel vehicles and perform related servicing tasks.
• Wash and detail vehicles and move heavy-duty vehicles.
• Perform multi-point inspections and report issues to the shop.
• Record fuel activity and maintain fuel/DEF inventories.
• Maintain the fuel island area following standards and policies.
• Perform minor facility maintenance as assigned.
• Change tires and inspect refrigeration units on trucks.
• Support safety and housekeeping duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Up to one (1) year of experience preferred /no experience required
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated customer service skills; must be able to understand customer's verbal communication
• Understanding of computer hardware and software, especially word processing, spreadsheets, and email. Must be able to read and understand codes and instructions on the computer; must have basic computer skills and ability to perform data entryMust be 18 years of age or older
• High degree of thoroughness and dependability; must be able to work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends,and holidays; must be able to work at different locations

Responsibilities

• Fuel vehicles
• Wash and detail vehicles; move heavy duty vehicles
• Perform multi-point inspection on inbound units as required by company policies and procedures; check tire pressure; report service issues to shop
• Record fuel activity and maintain proper fuel and DEF inventories and reconciliation
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and policies
• Perform some facility maintenance; perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Change tires
• Inspect refrigeration units on trucks
• Empty trash
• Perform other duties as assigned
