Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Fuel Systems Design Engineer (Experienced or Lead ) to join the fuel systems team in Long Beach, California.

This is an exciting position with responsibility for fixed-wing airplane fuel system requirements definition, system design, coordination of internal and external system interfaces, component and system level certification. This position will support both new product development activities and Boeing Commercial Airplanes sustaining programs.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Lead Level Fuel Systems Design Engineer.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines and develops requirements for fuel systems, distribution systems, and associated components.

  • Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to successfully integrate with other aircraft systems and structures.

  • Performs engineering and certification tests to validate fuel system design complies with requirements.

  • Supports Customer Requests by providing engineering support for various fuel system repairs.

  • Takes ownership of safety items and provide technical solutions to support Boeing’s customers.

  • Performs applicant responsibilities for repairs and major changes that require FAA approval.

  • Performs detailed engineering reviews of supplier changes.

  • Authors technical documents including certification deliverables, Record Summaries, design guides, and other engineering reports.

  • Performs technical project management for various fuel system projects.

  • Leads Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.

  • Takes ownership of fuels projects and proactively drive them to closure.

  • Works under minimal direction.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options (Long Beach, CA).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • Experience using CATIA/ENOVIA, Model Based Definition, GD&T, 2-D drawings.

  • 5+ years of experience in propulsion or fuel systems design for commercial or military aircraft.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Understanding of ODA relationships with FAA.

  • Aerospace or aviation industry experience.

  • Experience in fuel systems architecture, requirements, or design.

  • Experience working fuel systems repairs for commercial or military operators.

  • Familiarity with Boeing or FAA safety processes.

  • Fault Tree Development or FMEA experience.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range for Experienced-level (Level 3): $100,300 - $135,700

Summary Pay Range for Lead level (Level 4): $121,550 - $164,450
