Job summary

Ryder in Portland, ME is hiring a Fueler Service Technician to fuel vehicles, monitor fuel and DEF inventory, check oil and tire pressure, and perform basic maintenance. The role includes a second shift schedule and opportunity to advance within a safety-first logistics team.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong English communication, and basic computer skills. CDL-A is preferred; willingness to obtain within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Three+ years of related work experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Fuel vehicles and record fuel activity; maintain inventory.
• Move heavy duty vehicles and detail/ wash vehicles.
• Perform multi-point inspections as per policy.
• Report service issues to the shop.
• Perform basic maintenance like tire repairs.
• Support environmental compliance and site maintenance.

• Hourly Pay:$26.79 per hour
• Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday
• Hours: Second Shift Tuesday – Thursday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm, Friday 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm, Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Three (3) years or more of related work experience, preferred
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated customer service skills; must be able to understand customer's verbal communication
• Understanding of computer hardware and software, especially word processing, spreadsheets, and email; must be able to understand codes and instructions on the computer and have basic computer skills and ability to perform data entry
• High degree of thoroughness and dependability; must be able to work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends, holidays
• Ability to:

• Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, and a supervisors)

• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
• DOT Safety Regulated Position; This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities

• Fuel vehicles; record fuel activity/maintain proper fuel and DEF inventory and reconciliation; check oil; check tire pressure
• Move heavy duty vehicles; wash and detail vehicles; wash windows
• Make multi-point inspection on inbound units as required by company policies/procedure
• Report service issues to the shop
• Perform minor maintenance tasks such as tire repairs and align wheels per company procedure
• Perform some facility maintenance and assist with environmental compliance of the location
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and policies
• Perform other duties as assigned
