Job summary

Standard Motor Products, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to develop new production methods and improve existing ones in the Fuel Injector Manufacturing Department. You will lead process design, tooling specs, and cost-focused implementations.

Responsibilities include creating process routings, FMEA, cost analyses, and supporting make-or-buy decisions while driving Lean and Six Sigma improvements to meet schedule and budget targets. On-site role in Greenville, SC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills including MS Office and CAD software (AutoCAD, ProEngineer, SolidWorks).
  • Experience developing tooling and equipment specifications.
  • Experience with tooling and equipment vendors (quotations, contracts, delivery/installation, project management).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma tools or other problem solving tools.
  • Experience developing/monitoring/improving complete manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with TS16949 requirements.
  • Proven track record of on-schedule/under-budget project management.

  • Spec and procure all manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Create process routings and manufacturing process metrics.
  • Develop Process FMEA.
  • Performs manufacturing cost analysis.
  • Assists in make or buy cost analysis for component parts.
  • Implements Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to reduce costs.
  • Resolves technical issues with respect to process performance (TPM, OEE).
  • Assists in product transfer from development to production.
  • Develops/Implements training methods for manufacturing and maintenance.
  • Develop preventive maintenance procedures and metrics.

Overall Scope

Perform all duties necessary, under the general direction of the Manufacturing Manager to successfully develop new production methods, as well as improving existing methods for the Fuel Injector Manufacturing Department.
