Job summary

Alaska Petroleum Distributing, LLC is seeking a Fuel Driver in Fairbanks, AK, to perform dock and truck fuel delivery duties. Responsibilities include safe fueling of vessels, packaging and routing products, and maintaining accurate invoices.

Responsibilities

  • Dock Duties: greet customers, fuel vessels safely, prepare and deliver packaged products, deploy boom, maintain dock/yard, complete invoices and meter sheets.
  • Driver Duties: safely deliver to home heating and commercial customers, complete invoices daily, report unsafe conditions, perform pre/post-trip inspections.
  • Other Duties: keep trucks and facilities clean, assist with inventory and ground maintenance, participate in safety meetings and report hazards.

Alaska Petroleum Distributing (APD) has served the North Pole and surrounding areas since 1981. It is the largest fuel distributor in the interior. Recognizing its complementary services, including linehaul and truck maintenance capabilities, APD joined the NorthStar family of companies in 2019.

APD prioritizes environmental safety, crafting and constructing the first state-approved, double-walled fuel storage tanks. Alaska Petroleum has over 100 tanks of various sizes, which is an offered service to contractors throughout the state. In addition, APD handles oil spill contingency products, including pads and barrels.

Job Summary:

The Fuel Driver role plays a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient fuel delivery to customers through both dock and/or truck operations. This position involves a combination of dock duties and/or truck driving responsibilities to meet customer fueling needs. Must be able to pull a pup trailer with 5 years of experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Dock Duties (if applicable):

  • Greet customers and provide safe fueling services for vessels, ensuring proper fueling protocols are followed.
  • Prepare and deliver packaged products and oil lubes to customers, completing purchase order requests accurately.
  • Deploy boom as necessary and maintain a clean and organized dock and yard.
  • Complete meter sheets, invoices, and maintain timely submission to the office.
  • Inspect hoses and equipment daily for damage, ensuring equipment is in optimal condition.

Driver Duties:

  • Safely deliver fuel to home heating customers, commercial customers, and other locations, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
  • Complete invoices accurately and submit them to the office on a daily basis.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or concerns to supervisors to ensure safe delivery operations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking vehicle components and fluids.

Other Duties:

  • Maintain the professional appearance of trucks and facilities by performing necessary cleaning tasks.
  • Assist with various tasks related to inventory, warehouse assistance, and ground maintenance.
  • Participate in safety meetings, promptly report injuries, spills, and property damage, and identify and communicate potential job hazards.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years of commercial driving experience or a combination of education and experience preferred.
  • If CDL with all endorsements was recently obtained, the company is willing to provide entry-level driver training experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses & Registrations: Valid Class B or A CDL with X endorsement
  • TWIC, Hazmat, Hazwoper can be acquired after hire.
