Job summary

Swyft Fiber in Louisiana seeks a FTTH Outside Plant Fiber Splicer to splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber in OSP environments supporting FTTH network construction. You will perform fusion splicing on large-count cables (144+), read construction prints, certify spans with OTDR and power meters, and document results for quality control.

The role requires field-based work, on-call availability after hours, and a high school diploma with preferred fiber optics training; valid drivers license

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on outside plant fiber optic splicing experience, FTTH/FTTP preferred.
• Proficient in fusion splicing techniques for large-count cables.
• Ability to perform ring cut splicing on required cable sizes.
• Experience testing, troubleshooting, and certifying fiber spans with OTDR and test equipment.
• Strong knowledge of FTTH components and fiber routing.
• Ability to read construction prints and splice diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing of single-mode fibers, including 144+ count cables, in aerial, underground, and buried OSP environments.
• Read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, and fiber routing sheets to complete splicing per specs.
• Test and certify fiber spans using OTDR, power meter, light source, and other equipment; document results.
• Troubleshoot and repair fiber faults, locate breaks, fix high-loss splices, and restore service during outages.
• Splice and test fibers in enclosures, cabinets, vaults, hand holes, terminals, and NIDs.
• Organize and manage fiber slack, splice trays, and documentation (as-builts, OTDR traces).
• Respond to on-call service requests and coordinate with crews and management as needed.
