Job summary

Swyft Fiber is seeking an FTTH Outside Plant Fiber Splicer in Sulphur, LA. The role focuses on splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber in OSP environments to support FTTH network construction and maintenance.

The ideal candidate will perform high-count fusion splicing, read construction docs, and deliver on-call support, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety in field operations.

Qualifications

• Requires 2+ years hands-on experience in outside plant fiber optic splicing.
• Proficient in fusion splicing techniques for large fiber-count cables.
• Ability to read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, and routing docs.

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing of single-mode fiber, including 144+ count cables, in aerial, underground, and buried OSP environments.
• Test and certify spans using OTDR, power meter/light source, and other equipment; document results.
• Troubleshoot and resolve fiber faults, locate breaks, and perform emergency repairs to restore service.
• Splice and test fiber in enclosures, cabinets, vaults, hand holes, terminals, and NIDs.
• Maintain splicing/test documentation including as-built records and OTDR traces.
• Respond to on-call service requests and outages outside normal hours.
