SUMMARY:

Provide world-class customer service in stores as a full-time, minimum thirty-two (32) hour pharmacist and work to satisfy every customer's needs by exceeding their expectations and making every shopping visit an enjoyable and remarkable experience. Take responsibility for the overall operation of the pharmacy, maximizing controllable profit and minimizing expenses. Ensure all pharmacy associates comply with current company standards and all Federal and State regulations. Treat our customers and employees in an ethical, respectful manner and promote an inclusive, efficient work environment. Act as a responsible member of the community by emphasizing safety and accuracy when handling patient needs. Assist the pharmacy manager by carrying out supervisory responsibilities including training of associates, planning, assigning or directing work, addressing complaints, and solving problems.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Primary Job Functions as the pharmacist include:
  2. Perform all functions of staff pharmacists, supporting divisional, corporate, and special promotions.
  3. Undertake special projects as determined by the Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Operations Managers.
  4. Respond to pharmacy needs for relief coverage and travel locations as needed, including routine and emergency schedule needs.
  5. Demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent customer service, making all customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  6. Administer immunizations to customers following Harris Teeter’s standing orders and procedures.
  7. Complete clinical services according to relevant caseloads.
  8. Dispense or compound medications to customers pursuant to prescriptions, following laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and ethics standards.
  9. Review prescriptions issued by prescribers to ensure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
  10. Verify the work of pharmacy technicians and interns, including the accuracy of prescriptions and the determination of formulas and ingredients needed.
  11. Evaluate new and existing medications within patient profiles to ensure no drug interactions prior to filling prescriptions.
  12. Engage the pharmacy team to maintain appropriate day supply and follow protocol on recalls.
  13. Follow all state and federal laws regarding licensing, department, and personal license renewal.
  14. Maintain procedures for quality assurance, controlled substances security, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  15. Communicate ongoing special programs to relevant department members.
  16. Adhere to all applicable laws and guidelines, including HIPAA and fraud, waste, and abuse policies.
  17. Promote trust and respect among the team.
  18. Ensure all pharmacy employees meet professional standards, regulations, laws, and guidelines.
  19. Check in vendors according to standards.
  20. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and programs.
  21. Communicate with management about advertising, merchandising, and errors affecting customer experience.
  22. Complete paperwork accurately and maintain appropriate records.
  23. Perform essential functions such as data entry, inventory, stocking, dispensing, reporting, and sales of prescriptions throughout scheduled hours.
  24. Maximize gross profit and minimize operating expenses.
  25. Maintain records and reports related to pharmacy functions, volume, and sales; review and analyze financial data for effective decision-making.
  26. Handle customer complaints appropriately.
  27. Maintain confidentiality of customer records and information.
  28. Manage time effectively, including breaks and meals for pharmacy personnel.
  29. Assist store leaders and associates in providing a positive shopping experience and uphold Harris Teeter’s reputation for world-class service.
  30. Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  31. Follow company guidelines regarding registers, payments, and transactions.
  32. Display a positive attitude in interactions with others.
  33. Adhere to safety procedures and report illegal activities.
  34. Maintain a professional and respectful business image.
  35. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized space, including the pharmacy, register area, refrigerators, and blood pressure stations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a licensed pharmacist, in good standing, within the relevant state(s).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD; previous experience preferred.
  • Immunization-certified through APhA and CPR-certified through an accredited, state-approved organization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
