PATH is seeking a Safety Support Associate to join the Interim Housing Team at the Colonial site in Long Beach, CA. The role focuses on keeping the site safe for staff, participants, and visitors, with responsibilities spanning site monitoring, crisis response, and collaboration with case management and security teams.

The position offers a low-barrier, supportive environment, with opportunities for professional growth and a schedule Tuesday–Saturday, 3:00pm–11:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ensuring the overall safety of the interim housing site using observation, de-escalation strategies, and ongoing participant engagement.
• Coordinate with the onsite case management team to provide support to the interim housing site.
• Coordinate with contracted security agencies (if applicable) to ensure the safety of the interim housing site.
• Conduct regular rounds of the interim housing site and facility grounds and communicate any discrepancies or concerns.
• Assist the Associate Director with drafting written documentation and correspondence regarding safety and security of the site.
• Respond to interim housing security and crisis situations using non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation.
• Assist with completing reports as necessary or requested.
• Attend meetings and provide input on safety and support operations.

Lower end of range will apply to candidates who meet minimum experience or have limited years of relevant experience. The higher end of range will apply to seasoned candidates with considerable years of relevant experience.

About The Job

As part of the Interim Housing team, the Safety Support Associate proactively works to ensure the site is a safe environment for all staff, program participants, and visitors. This includes monitoring the site’s facilities and grounds for any concerns, building rapport with participants to engage them in maintaining safety at the site, and providing assistance and support when crisis situations arise. This position follows the established low-barrier guidelines to create a safe and stable environment for program participants, providing direct client services, including harm reduction support, and ensuring access to needed supplies.

Position Responsibilities include:

• Assist with ensuring the overall safety of the interim housing site using observation, de-escalation strategies, and ongoing participant engagement
• Coordinate with the onsite case management team to provide support to the interim housing site
• Coordinate with contracted security agencies (if applicable) to ensure the safety of the interim housing site.
• Conduct regular rounds of the interim housing site and facility grounds and communicate and observed discrepancies or concerns.
• Assist the Associate Director with drafting written documentation and written correspondence regarding the safety and security of the site
• In collaboration with supervisors and the case management team, respond to interim housing security and/or crisis situations as they arise by utilizing non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation strategies, including the team approach.
• Assist with completing reports as necessary or requested.
• Attend meetings and provide input and feedback related to safety and support operations
• Attend and actively engage in all required training sessions as assigned by the company and apply learned skills and knowledge to daily tasks and responsibilities.
• Attend and actively engage in all required staff meetings and events on and off-site (when applicable).
