Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates.
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Manage labor expectations daily and coach associates to achieve productivity goals.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Create a positive shopping environment with excellent customer service, ensuring a fast, friendly, and flexible experience.
  • Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, and business information systems.
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure department schedules provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, hiring, and training for the Produce Department.
  • Ensure proper ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
  • Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents, recording all incidents per procedures.
  • Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach associates to prevent losses.
  • Utilize advertising, sales promotion materials, and signage appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain security standards and complete required training courses.
  • Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback to improve customer satisfaction and sales.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of store operations preferred.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information.
  • Leadership skills to direct others.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements with or without accommodations.
  • Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or ability to attain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
  • Ability to use handheld devices for orders and inventory.
  • Stand continuously, walk short distances, and push/pull heavy loads.
  • Perform repetitive motions and lift weights as specified.
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
  • Meet activity standards and tolerate working in extreme temperatures.
  • Sufficient visual ability to check documents.
