Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates, provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Manage daily labor expectations and coach associates to achieve productivity goals.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Create a positive shopping environment with enthusiastic customer service focused on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service.
  • Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, supplies, and equipment care.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, CAO, and business information systems.
  • Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation are maintained.
  • Write and manage department schedules to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, hiring, training, and other department management tasks.
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise per policies and guidelines.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  • Record and report accidents according to procedures.
  • Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach staff on loss prevention.
  • Ensure proper use of advertising, sales promotion materials, and signage.
  • Comply with all regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain security standards.
  • Complete required training courses.
  • Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback to improve customer satisfaction and sales.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of store operations preferred.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Problem-solving skills using technical information.
  • Leadership ability to direct others.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, with or without accommodations.
  • Certification as a Food Safety Manager by the National Registry or similar organization, or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Use of computers and communication systems.
  • Operate handheld computers for orders, markdowns, scans, and inventory.
  • Stand and walk frequently.
  • Push or pull up to 2000 pounds with equipment.
  • Perform repetitive motions.
  • Bend and lift weights as specified.
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
  • Reach and grasp at various levels.
  • Meet volume activity standards.
