Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
- Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
- Manage daily labor expectations and coach associates to achieve productivity goals.
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
- Maintain an enthusiastic customer-focused atmosphere, emphasizing fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service to create a positive shopping experience.
- Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Control store expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment.
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, CAO, and business information systems.
- Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation are maintained.
- Write schedules to provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Understand scheduling, sales projections, wages, hiring, training, and other management responsibilities.
- Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
- Report all accidents following established procedures.
- Monitor shrink and coach staff on inventory loss prevention.
- Ensure proper use of advertising, sales promotion materials, and signage.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Follow all company policies and standards.
- Maintain security standards.
- Complete required training courses and provide recognition and counseling as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of store operations preferred.
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
- Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
- Leadership skills to direct others.
- Must meet minimum age requirements.
- Physical ability to perform job duties with or without accommodations.
- Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to achieve within 90 days.

- Ability to operate computers and communication systems.
- Use handheld computers for orders, scans, and inventory.
- Stand and walk frequently.
- Push or pull up to 2000 pounds with equipment.
