Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
  2. Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  3. Manage daily labor expectations and coach associates to achieve productivity goals.
  4. Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  5. Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  6. Maintain an enthusiastic customer-focused atmosphere, emphasizing fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service to create a positive shopping experience.
  7. Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  8. Control store expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment.
  9. Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, CAO, and business information systems.
  10. Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation are maintained.
  11. Write schedules to provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  12. Understand scheduling, sales projections, wages, hiring, training, and other management responsibilities.
  13. Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
  14. Identify and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  15. Report all accidents following established procedures.
  16. Monitor shrink and coach staff on inventory loss prevention.
  17. Ensure proper use of advertising, sales promotion materials, and signage.
  18. Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  19. Follow all company policies and standards.
  20. Maintain security standards.
  21. Complete required training courses and provide recognition and counseling as needed.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  3. Knowledge of store operations preferred.
  4. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  5. Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
  6. Leadership skills to direct others.
  7. Must meet minimum age requirements.
  8. Physical ability to perform job duties with or without accommodations.
  9. Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to achieve within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to operate computers and communication systems.
  2. Use handheld computers for orders, scans, and inventory.
  3. Stand and walk frequently.
  4. Push or pull up to 2000 pounds with equipment.
  5. Perform repetitive motions.
  6. Bend and lift weights as specified.
  7. Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
  8. Reach and grasp at various levels.
  9. Meet activity standards and tolerate temperature extremes.
  10. Sufficient visual ability for reading and checking documents.
