Qualifications

  • Unrestricted RN license in the state is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school with 1-3 years of experience.

Surgery Center of Chevy Chase is seeking a motivated PreOp Pacu Registered Nurse to join our team. Bethesda Chevy Chase Surgery Center is a fast-paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.

Job Summary: The PreOp RN is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, continually evaluating the patients’ condition, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. Experience in supporting specialties such as Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, and Urology is preferred.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Delivers direct and indirect patient care according to established standards, considering the patient's age and risk factors.
  2. Acts as a patient advocate, meeting physical and psychological needs.
  3. Performs patient assessments upon admission and regularly thereafter, documenting findings to guide care planning.
  4. Communicates nursing interventions and patient responses to responsible practitioners, documenting all aspects of care.
  5. Takes emergency call as assigned.
  6. Maintains sterile technique and understands aseptic practices.
  7. Coordinates care across different settings and disciplines.
  8. Implements physician’s orders safely and effectively.
  9. Uses special precautions for sedated patients.
  10. Provides transfer information regarding patient status to nursing staff.
  11. Documents all records in accordance with policies and procedures.

Pay range: Min $42.86 - Max $56.38

Note: Wages are determined based on qualifications and experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Unrestricted RN license in the state
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • 1-3 years' experience in PreOP/PACU
  • Experience in ambulatory surgical centers preferred
  • Current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient management
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions
  • Excellent team player with good communication skills with staff, patients, and physicians
