Job summary

Virtua Health in Hammonton, NJ seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinicians with patient exams, vital signs and documentation. You will perform phlebotomy, vaccines, and selected tests under physician supervision, while handling basic front-desk duties and ensuring smooth patient flow.

Ideal candidates have 0–2 years of medical office experience, a completed MA program, HS diploma, and CPR/BLS certification. Some state-specific certifications may be required within your first year.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant program graduate.
  • Current MA certification preferred; BLS certification required.
  • 0–2 years in a medical office is preferred.
  • Certification within 1 year of hire may be required by state.

Responsibilities

Job Information: Summary: Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint. Performs various clinical tasks within the scope of their certification and under the supervision of the physician.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam. Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
  • Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing. Administers vaccines and completes required documentation. Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
  • Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol. Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
  • Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
  • Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
  • Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required: 0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred. Required Education: HS diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire. Training/Certifications/Licensure: Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
