Position Summary

The Med Tech Residential Counselor is an essential member of the Residential Team. The role involves providing quality care to residents and assisting with ensuring the safe and therapeutic treatment of residents in accordance with Gateway’s goals and certifying/regulatory bodies including OMH/OPWDD/HUD.

Essential Responsibilities
Direct Service Responsibilities
  • Maintain all medical records for residents, ensuring documentation is up to date and properly stored, including prescriptions, MARs, Med Step Sheets, logs, and other medical documentation.
  • Report concerns to the Residential Manager or Senior Counselor.
  • Monitor daily medication administration for accuracy and report issues.
  • Assist in obtaining needed medical, dental, and clinical services for residents, including transportation to appointments.
  • Provide direct care services to residents as needed.
Education
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s Degree in human services related field preferred; High School Diploma accepted.
Experience
  • 2 years’ experience in Human Services field.
  • Or 4 years’ related experience with High School Diploma.
Licenses / Certifications
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Medication Administration (AMAP)
Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Bending at the waist or kneeling occasionally (1-2 times per week).
  • Full range of motion in hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Occasional lifting of packages (25-50 pounds).
  • Ability to perform CPR and recertify regularly.
Regulatory Clearances
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.
  • Background checks are required.
