Primary Purpose

The Management Trainee Program is designed to equip future managers with essential skills and knowledge for effective leadership roles.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform Meat Cutter functions as necessary.
  2. Recognize achievements and provide constructive feedback.
  3. Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect.
  4. Ensure proper training of department associates by certified trainers.
  5. Follow all company policies and procedures.
  6. Develop product knowledge across all Meat department areas, including fresh beef, pork, chicken, natural products, and processed meats.
  7. Conduct performance appraisals for department associates.
  8. Maintain effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards.
  9. Utilize company tools such as MPP, financial reports, scheduling, ordering, and BIG.
  10. Follow operational and merchandising standards to maximize profitability, focusing on priority categories and meat case plan-o-grams.
  11. Maintain clear communication within the department and organization.
  12. Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and food safety standards.
  13. Understand and address causes of shrink and methods to limit it.
  14. Fully understand department manuals and program standards.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and selling skills.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Leadership and team management abilities.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information.
  • Certification as a Food Safety Manager by the National Registry or similar organization is required or must be achieved within 90 days of employment.
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers and technical systems.
  • Lift cases weighing 1-40 lbs frequently; up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Meet volume activity standards.
  • Stand or walk up to 100% of the time in temperatures of 45°F, 60% of the time.
  • Perform repetitive motions such as grasping, twisting, reaching, and handling products.
  • Handle various substances including cleaning materials and meat products.
  • Frequent bending required.

Salary range: $18.95 - $27.25 hourly.
