Job summary

Kendal at Lexington is seeking a Float Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support both Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living environments. You will administer medications, monitor resident status, and participate in care planning to ensure continuity of care across the community.

This position emphasizes compassionate, resident-centered care with a strong emphasis on teamwork, documentation accuracy, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Competitive hourly pay with shift differential is offered.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Graduation from an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• Previous long-term care, skilled nursing, or restorative nursing experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Float between Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living neighborhoods based on resident care and staffing needs.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and policies.
• Monitor residents' conditions and communicate changes to the care team and physicians.
• Assist with resident assessments, care planning, and MDS-related documentation as assigned.
• Provide direct resident care including ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and feeding assistance.
• Support restorative nursing to maintain or improve function.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulations.
• Participate in audits, chart reviews, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Communicate compassionately with residents and families.

What You Will Do

• Assist with resident assessments, care planning, and MDS-related documentation as assigned
• Perform direct resident care, including activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility assistance, and feeding assistance
• Provide restorative nursing support to help residents maintain or improve functional abilities
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Participate in audits, chart reviews, infection prevention activities, and quality assurance initiatives
• Support residents and families through compassionate communication and resident-centered care
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and changing resident care needs

What You Bring

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Graduation from an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, or restorative nursing preferred
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
