Job description

Hatchery General Labourer
Location: Hanover, ON

Join the Maple Leaf family during an exciting growth period. Our Hanover Hatchery can hatch approximately 900,000 chicks weekly, handling everything from receiving eggs to distributing chicks across the province.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be trained to assist in various hatchery operations as needed.

Shift: Full-Time - Monday to Friday, starting at 5:30 am

Responsibilities Include:

  • Working in the separator area on a rotation basis
  • Egg room duties as assigned
  • Assisting with chick truck operations
  • Sanitation tasks
  • Receiving duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid G license
  • Team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work flexible hours until tasks are completed
  • Ability to work in wet/humid environments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good physical condition; ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly overhead
  • Comfortable using ladders and working at heights
  • Ability to follow SOPs and schedules
  • Adherence to HACCP and Animal Welfare practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills
