Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
  • Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and the coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Create a positive shopping experience by maintaining an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast, easy, flexible, and friendly customer service
  • Role model outstanding, friendly customer service, utilizing skills and knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers’ expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems; understand and utilize the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS)
  • Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation are maintained
  • Write Deli Bakery HMS schedules biweekly to ensure exceptional customer service
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise according to policies
  • Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; record and report accidents
  • Monitor shrink and coach staff to recognize and prevent losses
  • Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials effectively
  • Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standards
  • Maintain security standards and personal appearance in line with dress code
  • Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the position
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information
  • Must meet minimum age requirements and be certified as a Food Safety Manager or attend training to achieve certification within 90 days
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency in using computers and communication systems
  • Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack
  • Lift and handle products weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Stand continuously, with frequent walking and reaching
  • Work in extreme temperatures for up to 20 minutes
  • Good visual acuity for reading documents
