Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
  • Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Maintain a positive customer service environment, emphasizing fast, friendly service to ensure a positive shopping experience
  • Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written to provide excellent customer service, creating schedules biweekly
  • Manage ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies
  • Address unsafe conditions and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Record and report accidents, monitor shrink, and prevent inventory losses
  • Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials effectively
  • Adhere to company policies, maintain security standards, and uphold personal appearance standards
  • Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn technical tasks
  • Must meet age requirements and be certified as a Food Safety Manager within 90 days of employment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate computers and communication systems
  • Ability to push/pull heavy loads with equipment
  • Lift and handle products of various weights
  • Stand and walk extensively
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances
  • Perform repetitive motions and reach at various heights
  • Work in extreme temperatures temporarily
  • Sufficient visual ability for reading and checking documents
