Primary Purpose

To provide fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service to our customers by achieving Food Lion customer service standards. Assist the Customer Service Manager and Assistant Customer Service Manager in maintaining standards per the Front End Standard Practice Manual, and maximize sales through excellent customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide prompt, accurate, and friendly service, engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
  2. Greet each customer and use their name whenever possible.
  3. Avoid personal conversations with other associates when customers are present.
  4. Ensure store office functions are completed accurately and on time, communicating cash variances to the Assistant Customer Service Manager.
  5. Maintain knowledge of office procedures including cash reports, register checkups, deposits, Western Union, money orders, and Coinstar.
  6. Keep the work station and front end area neat and clean.
  7. Be knowledgeable about all register functions and Front End services.
  8. Report register malfunctions promptly and efficiently.
  9. Ensure MVP savings center KIOSK is operational and stocked.
  10. Perform sales associate tasks as scheduled or needed.
  11. Perform customer lead tasks to maintain service standards.
  12. Remain alert and call for assistance when needed.
  13. Be courteous and helpful to colleagues.
  14. Wear the Food Lion uniform and maintain a neat appearance, adhering to dress code.
  15. Follow all company policies and safety guidelines.
  16. Report unsafe conditions and maintenance issues.
  17. Complete required training courses.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Effective communication and customer service skills.
  3. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  4. Ability to perform cashier and service center functions.
  5. Meet minimum age requirements for the role.
  6. Ability to meet physical demands with or without accommodations.
Physical Requirements
  1. Use of computers and communication systems.
  2. Repetitive hand and arm motions.
  3. Lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs.
  4. Stand continuously and walk short distances.
  5. Handle substances related to cleaning and food products.
  6. Operate equipment like cash registers and scanners.
  7. Meet activity volume standards.
  8. Work in extreme temperatures for limited periods.
  9. Visual ability to check IDs and documents.
  10. Handle bottles and containers as applicable.
