Haywood Community College seeks a faculty member in communication to deliver engaging instruction across multiple modalities. You will lead lectures, supervise labs, and support student success through advising and transfer guidance.
The role includes teaching in face-to-face, online asynchronous, and hybrid formats, with emphasis on high-quality instruction and continual professional development.
Primarily instruction and public service and those forms of research which promote and enhance the College’s commitment to excellence in instruction and which supports the current needs of the students and faculty. Faculty members are responsible to the Dean or Program Manager. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of leader, teacher, adviser and facilitator of learning.
Master’s degree in communication or related field with at least 18 graduate hours in communication. A willingness to teach public speaking, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, college transfer success (first-year experience), or other courses per candidate’s qualifications. Demonstrated responsibility and effectiveness in providing high-quality instruction. Use of technology to enhance the student learning experience. Above average human relations and communication skills.
A Master’s degree in communication. A Master’s degree or 18 graduate hours in a second discipline. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Familiarity with Moodle, Canvas, or other learning management systems. Experience working with a diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, ability, and ethnic background of students. Potential candidates must be available to teach face-to-face sections at various times during the week.
