Novant Health Urgent Care seeks a Certified Medical Assistant for our North Augusta location. The MA will prepare patients for physician visits, take vitals, document data in EMR, and support front desk duties with outstanding patient service.

The ideal candidate has CMA or RMA certification, completed medical assisting education, and strong communication skills. Willingness to cover multiple centers and 12-hour shifts is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an Accredited Medical Assisting Program.
• Current CMA or RMA certification.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge required.
• Trained in OSHA/HIPAA compliance.
• Willing to work 12-hour shifts.
• Willing to work at other centers as needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to reflect our mission, vision, and values in conduct.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient demographics, medical history, prescriptions and pharmacy information for the provider.
• Recognize patient distress and notify the provider as needed.
• Collect laboratory specimens including phlebotomy.
• Perform laboratory tests.
• Data collection and testing for occupational health clients.
• Prepare and administer medications as delegated by a physician or nurse practitioner.
• Provide excellent customer service to all patients and staff.
• Operate general office equipment and EMR systems.
• Support provider with high-quality patient care and effective communication.
• Ensure patient rooms and equipment are clean and in working order.
• Provide coverage at other clinic locations within the region as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Are We Looking For?

NHUC is currently looking for a is currently looking for a medical assistant to join our team who will prepare patients for their physician visit. MA’s prepare patients by taking vitals, documents vital information from patient into EMR system. They also assist with patient services duties at the front desk taking phone calls, updating patient demographics and offering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Collects patient demographics, medical history, prescription and pharmacy information and records it for the provider.
• Recognizes patient distress and notifies the provider accordingly.
• Collect laboratory specimens including phlebotomy
• Performs laboratory tests
• Performs data collection and testing for occupational health clients
• Prepares and administer medications as delegated by a physician, physician assistant and nurse practitioner.
• Exhibits professional behavior and provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers at all times.
• Operates general office equipment such as personal computer, copier, fax machine, etc.
• Ability to effectively utilize EMR software.
• Supports provider by performing excellent patient care through effective communication.
• Ensure all patient rooms and equipment are in working condition.
• Provides coverage at other clinic locations within the region as requested and/or needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
