Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
• Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
• Manage labor expectations daily and coach associates to achieve productivity goals.
• Lead and motivate the store team to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
• Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operational results.
• Create a positive shopping environment with friendly, fast, and flexible customer service.
• Model outstanding customer service and utilize product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Control store expenses through proper ordering and care of supplies and equipment.
• Utilize company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, and business information systems.
• Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
• Ensure grocery department schedules provide excellent customer service at all times.
• Understand scheduling, sales, projections, hiring, training, and other management functions.
• Manage ordering, receiving, merchandising, and display in accordance with policies.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
• Record and report accidents following Food Lion procedures.
• Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach associates to prevent losses.
• Assist with bi-annual physical inventory counts.
• Ensure proper use of advertising, signage, and sales promotions.
• Comply with all regulations and company policies.
• Maintain security standards.
• Complete required training courses.
• Recognize accomplishments and offer constructive feedback to enhance customer satisfaction and sales.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Understanding of store operations preferred.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Ability to solve problems using technical information.
• Leadership skills to direct others.
• Must meet minimum age requirements.
• Physical ability to perform job functions, with or without accommodations.
• Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Physical Requirements

• Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
• Ability to use handheld devices for orders, scans, and inventory.
• Stand continuously; walk short distances.
• Push/pull up to 2000 lbs. with equipment.
• Perform repetitive motions; lift up to 15-25 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
• Reach, grasp, and work in extreme temperatures.
• Visual acuity for reading documents.
