Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
  2. Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  3. Manage labor expectations daily and coach associates to achieve productivity goals.
  4. Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  5. Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  6. Create a positive shopping environment with enthusiastic customer service, focusing on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service.
  7. Model outstanding customer service, using product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  8. Control store expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment.
  9. Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, CAO, and business information systems.
  10. Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  11. Ensure Grocery Department schedules provide excellent customer service at all times.
  12. Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, interviewing, hiring, and training.
  13. Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise adhere to policies and guidelines.
  14. Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  15. Record and report all accidents following Food Lion procedures.
  16. Monitor shrink and inventory, coaching staff to recognize and prevent losses.
  17. Assist with bi-annual physical inventory counts.
  18. Ensure proper use of advertising, sales promotion materials, and signage.
  19. Comply with all regulations and company policies.
  20. Maintain security standards.
  21. Complete required training courses.
  22. Recognize staff achievements and provide constructive feedback to improve customer satisfaction and sales.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  3. Understanding of store operations preferred.
  4. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  5. Problem-solving skills with technical information.
  6. Leadership ability to direct others.
  7. Meet minimum age requirements for the role.
  8. Ability to meet physical demands of the job, with or without accommodations.
  9. Certification as a Food Safety Manager by the National Registry or similar organization, or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  1. Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
  2. Use of handheld computers for orders, scans, and inventory.
  3. Stand and walk frequently.
  4. Push or pull up to 2000 lbs. using equipment.
  5. Perform repetitive motions and lift weights as specified.
  6. Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
  7. Reach, grasp, and tolerate temperature extremes as specified.
  8. Sufficient vision to check documents.
