Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates.
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Manage labor daily and coach associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Create a positive shopping environment with fast, easy, flexible and friendly customer service.
  • Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Use company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, productivity, and business information systems.
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure Grocery Department schedules provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, hiring, training, and other management responsibilities.
  • Oversee merchandise ordering, receiving, preparation, and display according to policies.
  • Observe and correct unsafe conditions and record accidents as per procedures.
  • Monitor inventory to prevent shrinkage and assist with physical inventory counts.
  • Ensure proper use of advertising, signage, and sales promotion materials.
  • Comply with all regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain security standards.
  • Complete required training courses.
  • Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback to improve customer satisfaction and sales.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of store operations preferred.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical skills.
  • Problem-solving skills using technical information.
  • Leadership ability to direct others.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties with or without accommodations.
  • Certification as Food Safety Manager or ability to attain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency in using computers and communication systems.
  • Ability to use handheld devices for orders, scans, and inventory.
  • Stand and walk frequently, lift up to 100 lbs., and handle various substances.
  • Perform repetitive motions and reach at various levels.
  • Work in extreme temperatures for periods.
  • Sufficient visual acuity for reading documents.
