Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports
  • Manage labor daily and coach associates to meet productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Maintain a positive shopping environment with fast, friendly, and flexible customer service
  • Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care of supplies and equipment
  • Utilize company tools like financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, and business information systems
  • Ensure department appearance, quality, safety, sanitation, and compliance are maintained
  • Write schedules to ensure excellent customer service at all times
  • Understand scheduling, sales, projections, hiring, training, and other management functions
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions and report accidents
  • Monitor shrink and conduct inventory counts
  • Utilize advertising and signage effectively
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
  • Maintain security standards
  • Complete required training courses
  • Recognize accomplishments and provide coaching to improve customer satisfaction and sales
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Understanding of store operations preferred
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical skills
  • Problem-solving abilities using technical information
  • Leadership skills to direct others
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Physical ability to perform job functions, with or without accommodations
  • Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to attain within 90 days
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency in using computers and communication tools
  • Ability to stand, walk, push/pull, bend, lift, and handle substances as described
  • Meet activity standards and tolerate working in extreme temperatures
  • Sufficient visual ability to check documents
