Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates
- Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports
- Manage labor daily and coach associates to meet productivity expectations
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflecting our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
- Maintain a positive shopping environment with fast, friendly, and flexible customer service
- Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations
- Control store expenses through proper ordering and care of supplies and equipment
- Utilize company tools like financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, and business information systems
- Ensure department appearance, quality, safety, sanitation, and compliance are maintained
- Write schedules to ensure excellent customer service at all times
- Understand scheduling, sales, projections, hiring, training, and other management functions
- Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions and report accidents
- Monitor shrink and conduct inventory counts
- Utilize advertising and signage effectively
- Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
- Maintain security standards
- Complete required training courses
- Recognize accomplishments and provide coaching to improve customer satisfaction and sales
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Understanding of store operations preferred
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical skills
- Problem-solving abilities using technical information
- Leadership skills to direct others
- Must meet minimum age requirements
- Physical ability to perform job functions, with or without accommodations
- Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to attain within 90 days
Physical Requirements
- Proficiency in using computers and communication tools
- Ability to stand, walk, push/pull, bend, lift, and handle substances as described
- Meet activity standards and tolerate working in extreme temperatures
- Sufficient visual ability to check documents
