Job summary

The Industrialist in downtown Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced Bartender to join our Food & Beverage team. You will prepare cocktails, beer, wine and other beverages per recipes, greet guests, take orders and provide recommendations.

The role requires knowledge of drink recipes, mixology, and POS systems, plus strong customer service and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting. High school diploma is required; bartending certification preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in bartending or high-volume bar/restaurant.
  • Knowledge: Drink recipes, mixology, and POS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine and other beverages per recipes.
  • Greet guests, take orders, provide recommendations and upsell when appropriate.
  • Maintain bar cleanliness and organization; restock supplies during shift.
  • Process payments accurately using POS; manage tabs responsibly.
  • Verify legal drinking age and follow safety and alcohol service policies.

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while delivering exceptional guest service. This role ensures accurate drink preparation, maintains bar cleanliness, promotes responsible alcohol service, and contributes to a welcoming and efficient bar environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Bartender

Supervision Received: Assistant F&B Manager / F&B Manager

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bartending certification preferred (where applicable).
  • Experience Minimum 1 year of bartending or high-volume restaurant/bar experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of drink recipes, mixology, and POS systems required.
  • Skills & Knowledge Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and cocktail preparation.
  • Understanding of responsible alcohol service and state/local regulations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.
  • Strong cash-handling and basic math skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and cleanliness.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and other beverages according to standard recipes.
  • Greet and engage guests, take orders, and provide recommendations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar area, including counters, equipment, and glassware.
  • Restock liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and supplies throughout the shift.
  • Process payments accurately using POS systems; handle cash and tabs responsibly.
  • Verify guest identification to ensure legal drinking age compliance.
  • Follow all sanitation, safety, and alcohol service policies and procedures.
  • Assist with bar opening and closing duties.
  • Report any equipment or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
