Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
  • Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Create a positive shopping experience with fast, friendly customer service, maintaining enthusiasm and customer awareness.
  • Role model outstanding customer service and utilize product knowledge to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations.
  • Control expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems.
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation.
  • Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules support exceptional customer service, creating schedules biweekly.
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise per policies.
  • Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and record all accidents per procedures.
  • Manage inventory shrinkage and coach staff to prevent losses.
  • Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials effectively.
  • Adhere to company policies, maintain security, and ensure personal grooming standards.
  • Complete required training courses.
  • Meet physical requirements, with or without accommodations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information.
  • Minimum age requirements met.
  • Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack.
  • Lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Push/pull up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Stand and walk frequently.
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances.
  • Perform repetitive motions and reach at various heights.
  • Work in extreme temperatures for periods.
  • Sufficient vision to read documents.
