Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
- Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations.
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
- Create a positive shopping experience with fast, friendly customer service, maintaining enthusiasm and customer awareness.
- Role model outstanding customer service and utilize product knowledge to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations.
- Control expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment.
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems.
- Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation.
- Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules support exceptional customer service, creating schedules biweekly.
- Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise per policies.
- Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and record all accidents per procedures.
- Manage inventory shrinkage and coach staff to prevent losses.
- Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials effectively.
- Adhere to company policies, maintain security, and ensure personal grooming standards.
- Complete required training courses.
- Meet physical requirements, with or without accommodations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
- Ability to solve problems using technical information.
- Minimum age requirements met.
- Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack.
- Lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
- Push/pull up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Stand and walk frequently.
- Handle cleaning and packaging substances.
- Perform repetitive motions and reach at various heights.
- Work in extreme temperatures for periods.
- Sufficient vision to read documents.
