Job summary

Haywood Community College in Clyde, NC, seeks an Assessment and Research Analyst to support excellence planning and accreditation efforts, manage the annual planning and faculty qualifications, coordinate change reporting, and analyze data for reporting and strategic planning.

The Analyst reports to the Director of Institutional Excellence Research, and Grants, supporting campus units throughout the planning cycle and assisting with IPEDS and SACSCOC processes.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of experience collecting, organizing, and reporting data, or in a role requiring detailed recordkeeping and documentation.
  • MS Office experience, particularly with Excel, Word, Teams, and Lists.
  • Ability to use Excel to turn raw data into a finished report (formulas, sorting, filtering, charts).
  • Ability to communicate clearly, in writing and in person, with faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Ability to explain data requirements and deadlines to people who do not work with data every day.
  • Demonstrated skill in organizing resources, tracking multiple deadlines, and establishing priorities across a recurring annual cycle.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing documents, records, and credentials.
  • Ability to keep student and institutional data confidential (FERPA).

Responsibilities

  • Manages the annual excellence planning (outcomes assessment) process.
  • Works with campus departments to review, evaluate, write, and complete annual excellence plans, including assisting departmental staff in developing learning, program, and administrative outcomes.
  • Designs and conducts training sessions to enhance understanding of learning, program, and administrative outcomes.
  • Manages the faculty qualifications process.
  • Assists the Director of Institutional Excellence, Research, and Grants with maintaining records and reporting for institutional accreditation (SACSCOC).
  • Coordinates the SACSCOC substantive change reporting.
  • Conducts research related to potential future programs of study at the College.
  • Maintains program tracking changes in coordination with Curriculum Committee.
  • Assists department leaders throughout the annual program review process by providing relevant data and assisting with documentation.
  • Assists the Director with IPEDS reporting requirements.
  • Assists with administering surveys and summarizing survey data for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Uses standard Informer queries to obtain data from the College’s database to support the assessment, evaluation, planning, and reporting functions.
  • Employs a variety of Microsoft Excel functions to create reports using raw data.
  • Maintains the confidentiality and security of all institutional and system data.

Job description

The Assessment and Research Analyst supports the institution’s excellence planning and accreditation efforts. This role manages the annual excellence planning and faculty qualifications processes, coordinates substantive change and survey administration, collects and analyzes data, and edits institutional documents. The Analyst also compiles data from multiple sources to inform reporting and strategic planning. Additionally, the position assists the director with accreditation compliance.

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Excellence Research, and Grants, the Assessment and Research Analyst provides support to campus units (instructional and non-instructional) throughout the college excellence planning cycle.

  • Manages the annual excellence planning (outcomes assessment) process.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned and other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Serve as technical advisor to committees as required.
  • Interact with students, the public, the community, and co-workers in a cooperative, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Serve on appropriate committees and teams as assigned.
  • Comply with the college's policies and procedures.
  • Represent the College in local, regional, state-wide, and national assessment, institutional research, and technology organizations in online community and annual meetings.
  • Some travel in college vehicles may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a field involving research, data analysis, statistics, or education.
  • Community college experience.
  • Experience with institutional or program-level assessment, including writing outcomes, or with program review.
  • Experience supporting accreditation, ideally SACSCOC.
  • Experience designing and leading training or workshops for faculty and staff.
  • Experience with federal or state reporting, such as IPEDS or NC Community College System reporting.
  • Experience administering surveys and summarizing results (SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, or MS Forms).
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague and Entrinsik Informer.
  • Advanced level user of MS Word, including experience with mail merge and style formatting.
  • Advanced level user of MS Excel, including experience with advanced lookups and Pivot Tables.
  • Experience with Quarto and R (or Python) for reproducible reporting.
