Job summary

Fresh Mark Incorporated in Massillon, OH is seeking an entry-level Microbiology Lab Technician to perform general microbiological lab work and routine testing for food and environmental samples, applying appropriate techniques to obtain valid, accurate results.

You will collect environmental swabs and samples, participate in audits, and collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation on root-cause investigations and corrective actions, while maintaining documentation and inventory.

Qualifications

• Degree, coursework, or experience in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
• Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Flexible schedule with occasional early mornings, shift work, and weekends as needed.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental and microbiological sampling according to the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP).
• Collect, label, document, and manage environmental swabs and samples.
• Perform routine testing including pre-operational, contact surface, air, water, and compressed air sampling.
• Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation teams on root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain environmental monitoring documentation and cleaning schedules.
• Monitor microbiological inventory and testing supplies.
• Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
• Participate in food safety, sanitation, microbiology, and capital project meetings.

Fresh Mark is currently seeking candidates to fill an entry-level Microbiology Lab Technician position. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting general microbiological lab work and routine microbiological testing for food and environmental samples proficiently. The candidate also will need to understand and apply the appropriate techniques and methodologies to obtain valid, accurate test results.
