Job summary

Platform Aerospace is seeking a Facility Security Officer (FSO)/Security Manager in Hollywood, MD to administer the industrial security program and ensure compliance with NISPOM and DCSA requirements. The role leads personnel security, facility security, and security policy development, coordinating with HR, IT, and facilities.

The successful candidate will manage clearances, training, and reporting, while maintaining the FCL and security records, and serving as the primary liaison for security

Qualifications

Job Summary

The Facility Security Officer (FSO)/Security Manager is responsible for administering the company's industrial security program and ensuring compliance with applicable National Industrial Security Program (NISP) requirements and company security policies. This position serves as the primary point of contact for security matters related to the company's Facility Clearance (FCL), personnel security clearances, classified information, and interactions with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA).

In addition to FSO responsibilities, this position oversees the company's physical security program, including facility access, visitor management, access control systems, security procedures, and the protection of company personnel, property, and sensitive areas. The role works closely with Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities, leadership, and other departments to maintain an effective and compliant security program.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the company's designated Facility Security Officer and administer the industrial security program in accordance with NISPOM, DCSA, and contractual security requirements.
  • Maintain the company's Facility Clearance and required security records, documentation, certifications, and reporting.
  • Manage personnel security clearance activities, including clearance initiation, maintenance, briefings, debriefings, and required reporting.
  • Administer applicable security systems and databases, including DISS, NBIS, NISS, and other government security systems.
  • Review and administer DD Form 254 requirements and ensure applicable classified contract security requirements are communicated and implemented.
  • Develop, maintain, and administer procedures for the proper handling, safeguarding, storage, transmission, and destruction of classified information.
  • Coordinate security requirements for classified meetings, visits, activities, and areas.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing classified visit requests and verify appropriate clearance, access, and need-to-know requirements.
  • Conduct required initial, annual, refresher, and termination security briefings and maintain applicable training records.
  • Manage required reporting related to foreign travel, foreign contacts, adverse information, suspicious contacts, and other reportable security events.
  • Support and participate in the company's Insider Threat Program and coordinate with designated Insider Threat Program personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DCSA security reviews, assessments, inquiries, and corrective actions.
  • Investigate and document security incidents, violations, and potential compromises and coordinate required reporting and corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain company security policies, procedures, plans, and employee security guidance.
  • Oversee the company's physical security program, including building access controls, employee badges, keys, locks, alarms, surveillance systems, and other physical security measures.
  • Establish and maintain access requirements for restricted, controlled, and classified areas.
  • Oversee visitor security procedures, including visitor identification, access authorization, escort requirements, and access to restricted areas.
  • Coordinate with Facilities and IT regarding security systems, alarms, cameras, electronic access controls, and other security-related infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with HR and IT to ensure security access is appropriately established, modified, and terminated during employee onboarding, transfers, role changes, and separations.
  • Periodically review facility access permissions and physical security controls to ensure access remains appropriate based on business need and authorization.
  • Develop and coordinate procedures for after-hours access, emergency security incidents, unauthorized access, and other facility security concerns.
  • Conduct periodic physical security assessments and recommend improvements to reduce security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Provide security guidance to employees and managers and promote security awareness throughout the organization.
  • Support security requirements associated with company operations, customers, government representatives, subcontractors, and other external partners.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and/or required.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Intelligence Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial security, personnel security, physical security, or a related security function within a government contracting or defense environment.
  • Experience serving as an FSO, Assistant FSO, or in a role with substantial NISP responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of NISPOM requirements and DCSA industrial security processes.
  • Experience with personnel security clearance processing and government security systems such as DISS, NBIS, and NISS.
  • Knowledge of classified information safeguarding, access control, visitor management, security briefings, and incident reporting requirements.
  • Ability to interpret government regulations, contractual security requirements, and security guidance and translate them into practical company procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate and confidential security records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with government and customer representatives.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive and classified information.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess and maintain the security clearance required to perform assigned FSO responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience serving as the designated FSO for a cleared defense contractor.
  • Experience managing both industrial security and physical/facility security programs.
  • Completion of applicable DCSA Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) FSO training.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting DCSA security reviews or assessments.
  • Experience administering DD Form 254 requirements.
  • Experience supporting an Insider Threat Program.
  • Experience developing physical security and access-control procedures for multiple facilities or restricted areas.
  • Professional security certification such as ISP, CPP, PSP, or equivalent.
  • Experience in an aerospace, defense, UAS, manufacturing, or engineering environment.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to traverse office, manufacturing, and operational facilities.
