Opportunity

We have an exciting opening for a FSL Linux Systems Administrator to join our team.

Role Overview

The FSL Linux Systems Administrator will:

  • Support the Flight Sciences Laboratory (FSL) on the Amentum JETS contract.
  • Assist in managing one of JSC's primary computing labs, supporting analyses for programs like ISS, Orion, SLS, Commercial Crew, Lunar Gateway, and HLS, with over 900 machines, 25,000 cores, and 3 PB of storage for 600+ users.
  • Build and maintain FSL services, including HPC administration, Linux workstation management, high-speed networking, and parallel filesystem administration.
  • Investigate system issues, monitor system health proactively, and support FSL users to ensure mission success.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Requirements

This position is posted at multiple levels. The final level offered will depend on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related field, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year in an IT-related role.
  • Experience with Linux OS, preferably Red Hat-based, but other distributions are acceptable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective task planning and communication skills.
  • Experience assisting others with IT issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Knowledge of NASA security mechanisms is a plus.
