Job summary

Ventura Coastal in Visalia, CA is hiring a Fruit Load Operator for 1st shift. You will secure fruit from the yard, drive a shuttle car to the receiving station, and assist the fruit receiver with unloading.

Requires High School diploma, forklift license or ability to obtain one, and 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred. Fluency in English and basic computer skills are needed; overtime and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide relief for fruit receivers for breaks and lunches; maintain safety and cleanliness.

Work Location: Visalia 12310 Avenue 368 | Visalia | CA | 93291Hourly Rate: $24.31 (Overtime and weekends may be required)We are hiring for a 1st Shift position which will cover all three shifts where needed.Shift: 1st Shift 6am - 2:30pmJob SummaryThe Fruit Load Operator is responsible each shift for securing the proper fruit load and fruit type from the yard and transporting the fruit via shuttle car, commonly called the yard dog, to the plant fruit receiving station. Once the fruit arrives at the receiving station, the Fruit Load Operator will assist the fruit receiver in emptying the load onto the fruit-receiving conveyor. If the employee is absent, another Fruit Load Operator will perform these job duties.Primary ResponsibilitiesFood Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.Retrieve fruit from yard as per the fruit picking schedule.Unload fruit at the fruit receiving station.Weigh fruit loads at the scale prior to delivery to the fruit receiving station.Complete and sign manual fruit log, located in the guard office.Perform daily mechanical and safety checks on the shuttle car.Perform clean up on fruit receiving ramp when ramp is not in use.Provide the Fruit Receivers with break and lunch relief as required.Follow all safety rules and practices including the wearing of all personal protective equipment.Follow all food safety/quality and personal hygiene practices.Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a positive attitude at all times.Act professionally towards customers, vendors and other visitors to the plant.Perform other duties as assigned as required.Qualifications and Education RequirementsThe Shuttle Truck driver does not require a driver’s license. The shuttle truck can only be driven on Ventura Coastal property.Must have knowledge and experience operating a 5th wheel, hauling trailers in tight spaces.Possess a valid forklift license or ability to obtain one.High School Diploma.Two (2) years of manufacturing experience preferred.Basic computer skills, i.e., the ability to read and handle a touch screen.Should have the ability to read, write and understand English.Physical RequirementsThe ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure a must.50% of the time will be in a shuttle car driving fruit loads in the yard.25% of the time will be unloading fruit.25% of the time will be spent standing outdoors and cleaning the receiving area which requires using a 15lb. hose.
