Job summary

NOV Fiber Glass Systems in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a manufacturing associate to fabricate FRP pipe and accessories. You will operate chopper gun and material handling equipment safely, maintain labeling and cleanliness, and support a strong safety culture on the production floor.

Expect to follow instructions from operators and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently, inspect workmanship, manage inventory of fiberglass materials, and assist with shipment preparation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Physically able to lift, stand, and work in non-climate-controlled areas.
  • Experience with fiberglass, composites, or layup techniques preferred.
  • Dependable and safety-conscious, able to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate FRP pipe, polygons, and accessories per quality standards.
  • Operate grinders, knives, rotating molds, and forklifts.
  • Perform seams, patches, and install components.
  • Support layout and fitting of shells per drawings.
  • Conduct measurements and quality checks; report issues.
  • Control inventory and storage of fiberglass materials.
  • Lift/move materials up to 50 lbs; wear respirator as required.

Job Duties
  • Fabricate FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) pipe, polygons, and other accessories in accordance with quality standards.
  • Operate a variety of tools and material handling equipment including grinders, utility knives, rotating molds, and forklifts.
  • Perform grinding, smoothing, patching, and installation tasks for seams, nozzles, manways, and other components.
  • Support layout and fitting of shells and parts per drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct measurements, visual inspections, and quality checks; report issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Control inventory and storage of fiberglass materials, rolls, and sheets.
  • Assist with part and product preparation for shipment.
  • Perform minor tool and equipment maintenance, cleaning tools and rollers regularly.
  • Apply product markings, stencils, and labels according to specifications.
  • Work in varying environmental conditions, including high noise and temperature extremes.
  • Lift/move materials and components as required (up to 50 lbs).
  • Wear a respirator for extended periods (8+ hours) as required by tasks.
Education And Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Physically able to meet job demands, including lifting, standing, and working in non-climate-controlled areas.
  • Experience with fiberglass, composites, or layup techniques preferred.
  • Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work well in a team environment.

Pay Range
  • $24.18 - 29.16 per hour
