Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Buyer to lead frozen grocery procurement in Sumter, SC. You will purchase items across fries, vegetables, fruit, baked goods, and ice cream, shaping strategy, managing suppliers, and ensuring in‑stock levels for a high‑volume distribution network serving restaurants, healthcare, and hospitality.

You’ll negotiate pricing, freight, and delivery terms while tracking market trends and cost opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years purchasing frozen groceries (fries, vegetables, fruit, baked goods, ice cream, etc.)
• Strong understanding of specs, supplier dynamics, and market behavior
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor‑management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office + ERP/procurement systems
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment

Responsibilities

• Purchase frozen grocery items from national and regional suppliers
• Track market conditions, pricing trends, and commodity movement
• Negotiate pricing, freight, terms, and delivery schedules
• Maintain strong in‑stock levels while minimizing shrink and aging
• Evaluate suppliers, pack sizes, and product alternatives
• Build strong vendor relationships and resolve quality or delivery issues
• Support sales with product and pricing information
• Partner with operations on receiving, rotation, slotting, and handling
• Communicate market updates and supply disruptions
• Use ERP/procurement systems to manage orders, inventory, and pricing
• Analyze data and prepare reports on cost trends and category performance
