Job summary

H&S Energy in California seeks a dependable Cashier/Customer Service Representative to support daily store operations, greet customers, handle checkout, manage food/beverage prep and maintain clean, welcoming spaces.

You will process sales at the POS, verify age for restricted items, stock shelves, follow safety guidelines, and contribute to a positive guest experience with product knowledge and friendly service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in retail, food service, or customer-facing roles preferred.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash-handling procedures.
• CPR and First Aid training a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet all customers with enthusiasm and professionalism, creating a welcoming environment.
• Deliver friendly, efficient, and accurate service at checkout while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Follow the company’s Four Steps of Customer Service with every interaction to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction and Mystery Shop performance.
• Communicate current promotions, loyalty programs, and product recommendations to enhance customer engagement.
• Represent the company with professionalism in appearance, communication, and conduct.
• Operate the POS system accurately for all cash, credit, and debit transactions.
• Ensure correct change, issue receipts, and process refunds or exchanges per policy.
• Perform cash drops, counts, and drawer balancing at shift end.
• Verify identification for age-restricted items and credit transactions.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and displays to keep products organized and visually appealing.
• Maintain signage, promotions, and pricing accuracy.
• Remove expired or recalled items and report discrepancies.
• Keep the sales floor neat and clean.
• Prepare and maintain all self-serve and ready-to-eat food/beverage stations.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and temperature guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize equipment regularly.
