Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II - Front Line Engineering to join our on-site team in Vacaville, CA. You will serve as the floor-level SME for Upstream systems, ensuring equipment remains compliant and ready for MAR operations while collaborating with maintenance and plant operations to maximize uptime.

The base annual salary ranges from $93,000 to $155,000, with a comprehensive benefits package including bonus, medical/dental/vision, 401(k) matching, life and disability insurance,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
• GMP knowledge for biopharmaceutical facilities and operations.
• Root cause analysis training and RCA leadership experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly triage, troubleshoot, and resolve routine mechanical, electrical, and automation equipment failures independently.
• Lead formal root cause investigations using 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Kepner-Tregoe, and FMEA.
• Monitor equipment performance, analyze data, and drive reliability and throughput.
• Implement upgrades and process improvements via engineering change control.
• Assess impacts of unplanned disruptions against validated requirements and drawings.
• Support capital projects and technology transfers; develop URS and participate in design reviews.
• Provide on‑call 24/7 technical support for urgent manufacturing issues.
