Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Security Engineer to collaborate with frontier AI coding agents to tackle complex security tasks and assess model-generated code for vulnerabilities. The role requires independence, rigorous reasoning, and risk-aware decision making.

You will review security architectures, identify edge cases, and help ensure secure production-grade systems while working remotely on flexible timelines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional security engineering experience.
• Experience with application security, cloud security, infrastructure security, or vulnerability management.
• Regular use of AI coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, or Gemini CLI.

Responsibilities

• Use frontier AI coding agents to complete and evaluate complex security engineering tasks.
• Review model-generated code and architectures for vulnerabilities and security risks.
• Identify bugs, edge cases, and security-related failure modes.
• Compare outputs from multiple frontier models to assess strengths and weaknesses.
• Apply professional engineering judgment to realistic security engineering scenarios.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.
