Job summary

OpenAI is seeking Forward Deployed Engineers in New York, joining a team that delivers frontier models to strategic customers. You will own discovery, scoping, system design, build, and production rollout, working closely with customer engineering and domain teams.

You will measure success by production adoption and impact on workflows, collaborating with Product, Research, Partnerships, and Security. The role is based in New York with a hybrid model: 3 days in the office weekly, relocation

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience including customer-facing work.
• Experience scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving environments.
• Production-grade coding in Python/JavaScript across frontend and backend.

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery from prototype to production deployments.
• Build full-stack systems delivering customer value and reusable components.
• Embed with customer teams to understand needs and drive adoption.
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers early.
• Code contributions when needed and share reusable patterns.
