Job summary

Skydio in the United States is seeking a software-focused intern to design and implement pilot-facing features that help operators make faster, safer decisions during drone flights.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-impact features such as multi-cockpit views, click-to-focus camera control, and live flight-path trails.

Qualifications

• Solid software engineering foundation and commitment to clean, well-architected code.
• Junior, senior, or MS-level student with project/internship experience building modern web apps that connect to backend APIs.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable APIs, services, and integrations for large datasets.
• Bonus: familiarity with robotics software development concepts.

About the role

How you'll make an impact

Design and implement pilot-facing features that help operators make faster, safer decisions while flying.

Leverage curiosity, technical skill, and a collaborative mindset to help make the world more productive, creative, and safe with autonomous drones.

Collaborate across functions (product managers, designers, engineers, and support) to deliver high-quality, impactful features to customers.

Build on the multi-cockpit view that allows pilots to open several drone pilots at once.

Ship a camera control like click-to-focus. Hold F, click a point in the live video, and lock focus and exposure on a moving target

Add a map layer like the flight-path breadcrumbs where pilots can turn on a live trail of where the drone has flown.

Render AR bounds around subject tracks from the vehicle, and allow users to interface to instruct the drone to follow a vehicle.

Experience building and maintaining scalable APIs, services, and integrations for handling large datasets.

What Makes You a Good Fit:

Obtaining FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment is strongly encouraged for all Skydio employees and required for certain positions.

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $47/hr for Undergrad, $53/hr for Graduate students, and $70/hr for PhD students*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience.
