About The Role

We are hiring a hands-on Principal Frontend Engineer – React to lead the architectural evolution of our frontend systems. This role will define and drive the long-term technical vision for our user interfaces and play a key role in implementing scalable, maintainable, and performant frontend applications. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and mentor frontend engineers, helping build robust design systems and a best-in-class user experience.

This is a full-time position open to remote candidates based in the U.S. East Coast or hybrid candidates located in Waltham, MA.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the frontend architectural vision for Steer’s product suite
• Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and scalability
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver well-architected solutions
• Mentor and guide frontend developers through code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions
• Build scalable, reusable component libraries and bridge design systems with engineering implementation
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend strategic improvements
  
  

Qualifications

Required:

• 7+ years of frontend development experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or architectural role
• Deep expertise in React.js and its ecosystem
• Experience designing and implementing component-based architectures, state management, and micro-frontend strategies
• Proficiency in frontend tooling including Webpack, Vite, Parcel, npm/yarn, and Git
• Experience with testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Background in SaaS platforms
• Familiarity with backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Ruby
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tools
