Job summary

Generalist is hiring a Frontend Engineer to build interfaces for robotics-focused applications, from early prototypes to production. You will deliver tools for researchers, operators, and customers, shaping the frontend architecture and design system while emphasizing usability and performance.

You will collaborate with researchers and product teams to understand workflows, implement interactive visualizations, and accelerate product delivery with reusable components and robust testing practices.

Qualifications

• Ability to ship and maintain production web apps using TypeScript and React.
• Strong stance on shared component libraries and UI patterns.
• Solid frontend architecture fundamentals and explicit state management.
• Experience managing asynchronous data and keeping UIs responsive during updates, slow requests, or failures.
• Excellent collaboration with engineering, design, and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Build web applications for robot monitoring, data exploration, model training and evaluation, and internal tooling.
• Turn complex requirements into clear, responsive interfaces for decision making.
• Develop interactive visualizations for telemetry, video, results, and system health.
• Shape frontend architecture to simplify complex workflows and enable growth.
• Establish a cohesive design system with shared components and styles.
• Work with researchers, operators, and customers to understand workflows and iterate based on feedback.
• Improve frontend development experience with reusable patterns and tooling.
