Job summary

Portra in New York City is seeking a Frontend Engineer who turns design into polished, high-performance interfaces for our insurance platform. You will own customer-facing apps, collaborating with product, design, and backend teams to ship features end-to-end.

Expect to implement React + TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and state management with Redux or Zustand, build responsive layouts, and contribute to component systems and frontend guidelines. This role is 100% on-site at our NYC headquarters.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building production frontend applications.
• Hands-on experience with Tailwind CSS or comparable utility-based styling approaches.
• Proven track record turning design specs into accurate UI implementations.
• Deep knowledge of responsive layouts and mobile-first strategies.
• Production experience managing application state (Redux, Zustand, or alternatives).
• Working knowledge of modern build systems.
• Practical experience writing automated frontend tests.
• Applied understanding of frontend performance best practices.
• Comfort working with REST APIs and async data patterns.

Responsibilities
