Job description

Hanson Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Frontend Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the gaming industry! The individual in this role will perform frontend UX work in addition to ad-hoc secondary backend engineering support for Xbox game creator services such as Developer Forums and Microsoft’s flagship site for gaming developer.microsoft.com/games.

Work will include focusing on accessibility and responsive design needs across support avenues, in addition to supporting systems/tools for our client’s managed partners, such as the creation and implementation of a ticketing application.

The individual in this role must be located in Costa Rica and willing to work Pacific Time hours to align with our client and team.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain user interfaces by helping build responsive, accessible, and high-performance UIs using React and/or modern JavaScript.
  • Collaborate closely with designers and across teams to translate design mockups and wireframes into functional, consistent components.
  • Design reusable and scalable React component architectures, focusing on performance.
  • Optimize front-end performance through lazy loading, code splitting, and efficient rendering strategies in React applications.
  • Ensure applications are fully responsive across various devices and screen sizes.
  • Implement accessibility best practices like WCAG 2.0 to ensure compliance standards are met.
  • Utilize React's state management to manage data flow and UI state effectively.
  • Write unit tests and integration tests to maintain code quality.
  • Address bugs and support applications built using AngularJS.
  • Perform backend support for systems/tools as requested.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Secondary education degree (Bachiller Universitario or Licenciado degree).
  • At least 3 years of experience using React or equivalent front-end frameworks with an understanding of core JavaScript.
  • At least 2 years of experience using backend programming languages such as C#, .NET, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
  • Familiarity and experience implementing CSS frameworks.
  • Proficient in Git or similar code repositories for source control, including branching strategies and pull request workflows.
  • Experience with Context API, Redux, or Recoil.
  • Knowledge and experience using bundlers like Webpack, Vite, or Parcel, and deployment pipelines for React apps.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams using tools like Figma and SharePoint for documentation, and Azure DevOps (ADO) for bug and task management is a plus.
  • Experience using AngularJS is a plus.
